MSG Ronald D. Menz,, U.S. Army Retired, 73, Sandusky, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, in the Ohio Veterans Home.
He was born on February 22, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH. He entered the Army on March 1, 1954 and was discharged June 1, 1979. He was member of Westmoreland Baptist Church, Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #356 F. & A.M., Valley of Cincinnati, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, 32nd degree, Sierra Club, D.A.V. Chapter John P. Lafene #16, Cincinnati, OH, American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, and Marksmanship Association, Ft. Benning GA. His military service spans 25 years in which he received many awards, badges, and medals, including but not limited to, the Army Commendation Medal with "V" Devise for Valor, President's Hundred Tab & Distinguished Rifleman Gold Badge.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Marian Menz Walters, to whom he was married 27 years; children, Kristian, Kurt, Karl, and Jean-Marie Menz; twelve grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Carol N. (Bennett) Menz; brothers, Thomas R. and Martin; sister, Linda Krimmer.
Services will be held Friday, September 10, 2010, in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until time of military services at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
