Richard L. David

Richard L. David, 92, of Sandusky, died Monday, March 4, 2013 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.

He was born November 19, 1920 in Sandusky and was a 1940 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of WW II, and was held as a prisoner of war for 11 months in Germany. Richard was employed as a electrician with the Local Union IBEW # 129 for 30 plus years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Sandusky, Grand Chapter of Electrical Craftsmen, Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Ex Prisoners of War, The Eight Air Force Historical Society, Disabled American Veterans, Lowell C. Hein Post 2529, V.F.W., Amvets Post 17, Science Lodge No. 50, F. & A.M., and the Singara Grotto.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Beatrice M. Daugherty, one son: Leonard (Mary) David of Sandusky, two daughters: Janice (Larry) Silverman of Charlottesville, VA., and Lauretta (Paul) Papp of Swanton, OH., six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister-in-law: Leola David of Mobile, AL., nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert & Irene (Kurtz) David, one brother: Alvin David and one sister: Lauretta Piper.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, where Science Lodge No. 50 will hold memorial services at 3:30 PM Thursday. Friends may also call Friday. March 8, 2013 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. John B. Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
