Starling "Pete" Coleman

Starling "Pete" Coleman, 82, Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, November 30, 2010 in Firelands Reg. Med. Center, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 10, 1928 in Westmoreland Co., PA, and was a graduate of Union High School where he captained the football team. He served in combat in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and attained the rank of Sergeant. Pete was employed at Vulcan Materials Co. and retired from General Motors in 1993. He was a member of the United Autoworkers Union Local 913. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sandusky. He also served as a past director of the AMVETS Little League, coached youth baseball in the Sandusky area for many years, and was an avid bowler, fisherman, and sports fan.

 Pete is survived by his sons, Kent (Kathleen) Coleman and Charles Coleman, both of Sandusky; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Jordan, both of Sandusky; sisters, Mildred Gant, Sandusky, and Inez Jarret, Sewickly, PA; brothers, Saul Coleman, Pittsburg, PA, and Richard Coleman, Bulger, PA; special brother-in-law, Leroy Sizemore, Jr.; and special friend, Barbara Harris, Sandusky; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn (Sizemore) Coleman; son, Starling Brian Coleman; parents, Richard and Minnie Coleman; and brothers, Robert Coleman, Arthur Coleman, Albert Coleman, Earl Coleman, and Edward Coleman.

Friends may call from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Pastor Clayton E. Howard will officiate.
