Velma Zilch age 96 of Bellevue passed away Thursday, December 02, 2010 at the Bellevue Hospital.
She was born Nov. 23, 1914 in Van Wert County, Ohio the daughter of the late John D. & Rosina (Schaadt) Giessler. Velma married Don E. Zilch Jan. 28, 1940 in Van Wert, OH. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Fireside where she was the organist in earlier years and Sunday school pianist for a number of years, member of the Women's fellowship of the church. She graduated from the former Wren School in Wren, OH in 1932. Velma was a member of York Grange where she held several offices and was their pianist. She served as a volunteer at Fairhaven Home in Upper Sandusky. She loved baseball especially her Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Bob) Carollo of Las Vegas, NV, Cindy Close of Middlesburg, FL, sons, Dennis (Sandy) Zilch of Kingsville, OH, Carl Zilch of Bellevue, David (Janet) Zilch of Bellevue, 13 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents her husband, Don, of 69 years, sons, Roger & Richard, daughter in law Kathy Zilch preceded her in death. Friends will be received Sunday, Dec 5, 2010 from 2 - 4 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Zion United Church of Christ, 13525 E. Thompson Twp Rd 178, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Fireside Cemetery.
