Charles F. Stumpf

Charles F. Stumpf, 87, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Firelands Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, New London, Ohio.

He was born October 18, 1925 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Paul Christian and Hazel Amabel (Suhr) Stumpf. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1943. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army, Co. B. 363rd Infantry Reg., 91st. Infantry Division E.T.O. (Italy) from December 1943 to February 1946. He was proud to have served his country and enjoyed his Honor Flight trip last June to the WWII Memorial. It was the highlight of his summer. Charles was a farmer, truck driver, manager for Jennings Ready Mix until his retirement. In retirement he enjoyed being in Florida. He did may crafts and activities with his community at Chula Vista Landings, Ruskin, Florida, where he was on the Board of Directors. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather.

He is survived by his children; Sarah Jane (Charles) Berner, Highland Heights, Ohio, Nancy Jean (Larry) Weisenberger, Betty Joan (Randy) Miller, of Norwalk, Ohio, Charles F. Stumpf, Jr., of New London, Ohio, and William John (Judy) Stumpf of Norwalk, Ohio, by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane Elizabeth Knoll Stumpf in 1996. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
