Lorraine A. Mellio

Lorraine A. Mellio, 84, of Sandusky passed away Friday afternoon at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

Lorraine A. Mellio was born September 20, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Louise "Jean" (Wirick) Gilmore.
Lorainne graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946. She was an executive Secretary for General Motors for over 40 years. She was a member of Edison Memorial Methodist Church, The Sandusky American Legion Auxiliary, and the former Milan Garden Club.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Peter Mellio; her first cousin, Beverly Steinert of Mayfield Heights in Cleveland, Ohio; two nieces, Stephanie (Spires) Gretz of Weddington, North Carolina, and Paula (Spires) Elias of Ecino, California; two brothers, James (Judy) Adams and Robert (Sis) Adams of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; many other family members, and friends.

Including her mother, Lorraine is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Sue M. Spires in August of 2012.


Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky, Ohio. Father Michael Gulgas of St. Nickolas Greek Orthodox Church Lorain, Ohio and Rev. Barbara E. Stephens-Rich of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church Milan, Ohio will co-officiate. A private family burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
