Lorain M. Phillips, age 87, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning at Stein Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.
She was born on July 31, 1925 in Crystal Falls, Michigan to the late Joseph and Ada (Hooper) Lada.
Lorain was employed by Northern Michigan University where she worked in the graduate office, retiring in 1985. She was an avid bridge player, loved shopping, and bowled for many years. Lorain enjoyed retirement for 21 years in Sun City West, Arizona, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter Hallie (Bob) Dessecker of Sandusky, Ohio and three grandchildren Lee (Julia) Dessecker, Neil Dessecker and Dirk Dessecker & fiancé, Abigail Dulworth; one great-grandchild, Lee.
Including her parents, Lorain is preceded in death by her husband in 2010, Walter A. Phillips whom she married on June 27, 1948; and her brother, Calvin Lada.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will be conducted and held at a later date, in Michigan. The Groff Funeral Home in Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
