James E. Porter, Jr., 48, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, April 15, 2013 in Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home, Huron, after a lengthy illness.
James is survived by his father and mother, Herbert and Patricia (Hyatt) Davis; companion, Doris Hendrix; children, Ashley (Quinton) Fisher, Shea Porter, Patricia Porter, Shandy (Shawn) Coder, Kevin Porter, Joseph Porter, Cathy Hendrix, and Michael Biller; sisters, Traci Porter, Janet Porter, Patricia Porter, Carmela Davis, and Kimberly (Andre) Fuller; brothers, Herbert (Junie) Davis, Jr., Dewayne Kemp, and Keith Porter; 21 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 2 great-nieces and 6 great-nephews; best friends, Mike Jones and Jack O'Neal; his extended father, LZ Pearson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Porter, Sr.; sister, Sonya Davis; grandparents, James and Genise Hyatt, Alice Davis, and Thomas and Hattie Davis; aunts, JoEllen North, Eula Davis, Irene Knight, and Willie Wee Dunn; uncles, James Hyatt, Jr., Herman Davis, Roosevelt Davis, and Rufus Davis; nephew, Shaquille Porter; and father-in-law, Clarence Pollard.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Stein Hospice and Admiral's Pointe.
Friends may call from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Pastor Jerome Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
