Hazel E. Smith, 84, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Thursday evening, April 18, 2013 in Gaymont Nursing Center.
She was born April 1, 1929 in Castalia, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Retta (Richards) Balduff and lived in this area most of her life. Hazel attended Lyme School and was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Norwalk, Ohio. She was a former employee of the West Baking Company, (New Horizon) of Norwalk, Ohio and Norwalk Furniture Company. Hazel enjoyed reading, walking, and her pet dog.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra A. Moffit of Mansfield, Ohio, by her grandchildren, Jerry Wright, Michael Wright, Michelle Wright, Mark Wright, and Janice Myers, by 8 great grandchildren, and by one great great grandson.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph F. Smith in 1978, by her daughter, Lois Case in 2005, by her brother, Lloyd Balduff Jr., and by her sisters, Gladys Stimpson, Evelyn Star, and Emiline "Faye" Shirley.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. David Connor, Interim Pastor of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
