Anthony "Tony" Ray Traut

Anthony "Tony" Ray Traut, 41, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born March 8, 1972 in Sandusky, Ohio to Sandra (Traut) Hamilton.

Tony was a 1991 graduate of Sandusky St. Mary's High School. He was former employee of the Better Half Restaurant in Sandusky. For several years he also worked as a "Screamster" for Cedar Point during HalloWeekends.

Tony proudly served in The United States Marine Corps from 1994 - 1998, during the Gulf War Era as a heavy equipment operator; while in the service he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Thailand and Camp Pendleton in California. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Rifle Expert Badge. He was chosen by his peers to be a member of the Marine Devil Pupps, based on his patience to work with troubled youth. He was also called back to service during the OIOEF Era. Tony was a founding member of the Firelands Chapter of the Marine Corp League. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky. He enjoyed cooking, giving a helping hand to others, flowers and gardening, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family, especially his children.

Including his mother, Tony is survived by his girlfriend, Margaret Bukovsky; two children, Austin Traut and Zoey Bukovsky; one brother, Andrew Hamilton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Tony is preceded in death by his daughter, Chloe Traut; maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Elizabeth Traut; paternal grandparents and his special aunt, Orpha McGee.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 1, 2013 form 5 to 8 PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH. 44870. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 AM, Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the funeral home, followed by a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, OH. The Rev. Joseph Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio with full Military Honors.
