Edward L. McGinn, Sr., 81, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Friday, May 3, 2013 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, Ohio.
He was born August 25, 1931 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Myles and Marie (Grosswiler) McGinn and was a lifelong area resident. Ed was a member of St. Mary Ligouri Catholic Church, Norwalk, Ohio and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of Rockwell Manufacturing, Norwalk, Ohio, and retired from the Ford Motor Company, Sandusky, Ohio in 1992 with 30 years of service. Ed was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, Norwalk, Ohio and Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Norwalk, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering, farming, was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan, and was a handyman. Ed especially enjoyed his family, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes M. (Schneider) McGinn of Norwalk, Ohio and by his children, Patty (Jeff) Reitzel of Norwalk, Ohio, Edward L. (Melanie) McGinn, Jr. of Norwalk, Ohio, and Mary Claus (Terry Bennett) of Gainesville, Georgia. Ed is also survived by his grandchildren, Dana, Nick, Stacy, Stephen, Tabitha, Kevin, Katy, and Emily, by his great grandchildren, Nathan, Paige, Jennifer, Lilli, Avery and Carson, and by his sisters, Margaret Ashley of Norwalk, Ohio, Gertrude McGinn of Norwalk, Ohio, Cecilia Young of Norwalk, Ohio and Virginia (John) Jarvis of Bellevue, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Myles B. "Bob" McGinn, and by his sisters, Betty McGinn and Marie Doughty.
Friends may call on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Ligouri Catholic Church, 38 West League Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Fr. Anthony Recker will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
