Jimmie F. Burns, 78, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 22, 1935 in Ivydale, West Virginia.
Jimmie was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in Germany from 1952-1956. He loved to fish and hunt, watch television, and he was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns fan.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Michael "Mitch" Burns, of Sandusky; daughter, Terry Johnson, of West Union, Ohio; sister, Rachael Hemmer, of Norwalk; and brother, Richard Burns, of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burns, in 1971; daughter, Michelle "Shelley" Burns, in 2005; sister, Muir; brothers, Bill, Barney, Bob, Jack, and Pete; and Opal Burns, who helped raise both Jimmie and his kids.
At Jimmie's request, there will be no viewing and cremation will take place. A memorial service will be announced later.
