Eula G. Vanzant, age 89, of Castalia, died Monday morning, May 13, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
She was born December 17, 1923, in Union Co., TN, and retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1982 after 34 years. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church, where she was past secretary of the church and Sunday School. She loved flowers, gardening, and crocheting, and was a member of the 23R's Pen Pal Club.
Eula is survived by one daughter Priscilla (Matt) Vanzant-Hatfield of Castalia; one son Phelix (Kristine) Vanzant of Sandusky; 5 grandchildren Surah Weyer, Phylicia Vanzant, Lurah Hatfield, Kayla Vanzant, and Kodie Vanzant; two great grandchildren Rebecca Weyer and Nevaeh Vanzant; one sister Mildred Smith of Georgia; one brother Wayne Owsley of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luther Vanzant in 2011; her parents; one sister Opal Owsley; and 3 brothers Rolland, Larnie, and Frank Owsley.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday, May 16, 2013, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, May 17, 2013. Pastors Dan Duffy and Garry Sorrell, Jr, will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery.
