Vivian L. Wilburn, 98, of Sandusky passed away late Monday evening May 20, 2013 at Lutheran Memorial Home following a brief illness.
She was born February 28, 1915 in West Unity, Ohio, to the late Charles and Grace (Laser) Hoover.
She was active in her communities as a Sunday school teacher, reading tutor, Hospice volunteer, Eastern Stars, and had great fun ballroom dancing and playing Bingo. Vivian ran a sewing machine business, (Necchi Elna) on Hancock St. across from Two Bits Harrison Garage in the early 1950's. She then took a payroll job at Providence Hospital retiring in 1978. All of her life she loved to be in the sunshine. Her personality was as warm sunshine, she'd brighten your day. She retired to Bushnell, Florida, when she married the late James Wilburn in 1978, and returned to Sandusky in 1990, after his passing.
Vivian is survived by her son, Gary (Liz) Westgate of Castalia; five grandchildren, Tony (Sue) Westgate, Randy (Doug) Westgate, Jason (Laura) Westgate, Sirka (Trusen) Schreck, Sasha (Matthew) Griffin; 13 great -grand children; and three great-great grandchildren.
Including her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, James Westgate in 2004; and her sister, Evelyn Shultz.
At the family's request, cremation has taken place. Private family burial will take place at a later date at West Unity Cemetery.
