Louis C. Trotta, age 83, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in the company of loved ones.
He was born December 13, 1927 in Stoughton, Massachusetts to the late Paul and Elsie (Ippolito) Trotta. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, attended Northeastern University and graduated from Boston University. He served in the US Army-Air Force from 1946 until 1948 and worked at the Wheeler Reflector Co. in Hanson, MA. He was an engineer in Cambridge, MA for Fanny Farmer and was a member St. Mary Catholic Church in East Walpole, MA, where he was active with its finance committee, parish council, religious education and managed the parish center. He worked briefly at Godiva Chocolates in Reading, PA. In 1973 he moved to Norwalk, Ohio and was plant manager of the Fanny Farmer Candy Company until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with and walking the family dog, Marley. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and woodworking. Most recently, he enjoyed delivering the mail to Durable Corp, as Durable Corp enjoyed having him do it. As a volunteer, he gave freely of his time and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk, having also served on its finance committee.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Haste) Trotta of Norwalk; children, Stephen (Jennifer) Trotta of Athens, OH, Ann (Warren) Myers of Malta, NY, Christopher (Cynthia) Trotta of Cleveland Heights, OH and Hilary (Eric) Alexander of Norwalk; a special sister-in-law, Patricia Haste of West Yarmouth, MA and a brother, Robert Trotta of Stoughton, MA; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Paul "Uncle Mike" Trotta.
Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Francis J. Speier, pastor of the church, will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow at Church and private interment will be held in Massachusetts. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W.
