Gloria Jean Bammer, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning at Erie County Care Facility following a brief illness. Gloria was born on December 30, 1927 in Brooklyn, Michigan to the late Charles "Howard" Dewey and Mabel (Route) Dewey.
Gloria was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years, proudly singing in the choir with her late husband; she was also an active member of the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church in St. Pete's Beach, Florida. She enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles, volunteering at the church thrift shop, but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the beach and pool in Florida.
Gloria retired from Perkins School system teaching at Furry Elementary for over 26 years.
Gloria is survived by her son, Craig Bammer of Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Dewey of Michigan; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Bammer; one son, Reggie Bammer; and brother, Charles H. Dewey.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson Street, Sandusky at 10am Wednesday, July 10. Reverend Robert R. Bottoms will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Avenue, Sandusky are handling the arrangements for the family.
