Pauline Shaw, 76, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord late Wednesday evening, June 26, 2013 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 11, 1937 in Sandusky to the holy union of Rufus and Dora (White) Koonce. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School, and received her cosmetology license from the Apex College of Beauty, Culture, and Hair Dressing, founded by Madame Sara Spencer Washington, in Chicago, Illinois.
Pauline was employed by the former Good Samaritan Hospital for many years.
She was a faithful member of Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served on the usher board and stewardess board. She was a creative designer of custom-made church hats. She was also a member of the Electa Chapter #193 International Order of the Eastern Star.
Pauline is survived by her sister, Madeline Henderson, of Orange Park, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pearline Hinton and Christine Young; and brothers, Robert, Paul, and Lee Koonce.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Entombment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
