Elizabeth Mae "Maw-Maw" Ring, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 7th, 2013 after a long struggle.
She was born in Brownton, W.V. Oct 30th, 1927 the first child of Mack and Ivy Cleavenger, grew up in Clarksburg, West Virginia, later moved to Northern Ohio where she met and married her husband Wendell in 1955. They spent their early years in Cleveland, saved to buy land and built a new home in Collins for themselves and their 8 children, finally moving to Norwalk in 1971.
Maw Maw enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, (Salmon Patties and Cobblers were specialties) canning, crafts (a porcelain doll for every granddaughter) and was always ready for a trip to visit family across town or several states away. In addition to her cooking and canning at home she spent time as a waitress at the Star Diner and Helen's Restaurant. She also worked a few years at the West Baking Co. and volunteered at the local food and clothing banks in her spare time. Aside from her own one small, occasional, indulgence in the nearby casinos, taking care of and providing for her family, however needed, was how she spent her entire life.
From her own brood Maw-Maw had the company and love of 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and extended family across the country. To her last day that love and company was shared whether shopping or visiting, in-home care or the many trips required in her last years for medical needs. She was so dearly loved and will be missed forever by all.
Preceded in death by her husband Wendell, her brothers Charlie, Red, Benjamin and Bud, an infant sister Helen, her son Ronald and grandsons Derek and Daniel; survived by her brother Homer and sister Sue, daughters and sons Barbara and Curt Conley, Donald and Cindy Ring, Cheryl and Mark Sholes, Mary Souslin, Sandra and Bill Rife, Wendy Womack, Charles "Pete" Ring and several nieces and nephews. And to her pride and pleasure she is survived by the 2 further generations of grandchildren she cradled in her loving arms.
