James D. Myers

James D. Myers, 82, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2013 at Stein Hospice after a brief illness.

James was born on November 21, 1930 in Big Sandy, TN to the late Willie H. and Maud (Smith) Myers.

James was a self employed construction worker who worked for Draw Bridge Marina. He was a Veteran of the Coast Guard, a life member of the AMVETS, and a member of The Athletic Club of Sandusky, as well as the Orioles Club. He received his 100 ton Captain's License and enjoyed being a charter boat Captain in the Sandusky Area.

James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathryn (Yunghans) Myers, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1981. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lorraine Myers of Sandusky and Elizabeth (Greg) Beem of Dayton, OH; two sons, William Myers and James Myers, both of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Daniel Lehrer, Hannah Miller, Julie Maria Myers, Sarah Myers, Jayden Stargell and Maxwell Beem; one great-grandson, Auden ; two sisters, Ruby Berry of Austin, TX and Patricia Haskitt of Pittsburgh, PA; one brother, Don Myers of Parma Heights, OH; special friends Melissa and Jeff Misconish of Parma Heights, OH and their children Jenna, Lauren and Jeffrey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Myers, and sister, Christine Farmer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Private graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
