Eileen W. Smith

Eileen W. Smith, 83, residing in Norwalk, passed away late Friday morning, July 19, 2013 at Gaymont Nursing Home in Norwalk after a brief illness.

Eileen was born on June 14, 1930 in Elyria, OH to the late Alfred Crisp and Mildred A. (Standen) Henson.

Eileen graduated from Milan High School. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service Milan Office in 1998 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Monday Morning Women's Group and participated in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, baking cakes, cross stitch, the Cleveland Indians, crossword puzzles, and collecting recipes. She was an avid reader, loved music, and enjoyed most spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Rex) Stanforth of Norwalk, and Heidi (Scott) Sazpansky of Cleveland, OH; two sons, Michael B. (Shirlean) Smith of Milan and Matthew (Julie) Smith of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Orrin, Ben, Amanda, Nick and Derick; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Leah and Jacob; one sister, Lois Witter of Norwalk; three brothers, Pete (LaDonna) Henson of Nova, OH, Carl (Sheila) Henson of Sandusky and DeWayne (Tracie) Henson of Oak Harbor, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick H. Smith, Jr. and one son, Frederick H. Smith III.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 3PM until the time of memorial services at 4PM at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, 10 E. Church St. Milan, OH 44846 with Pastor Dale Thomas presiding. Committal servives will be conducted at a later date in Milan Cemetery, Milan, OH. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory Milan Chapel are assisting the family with arrangements.
