James C. "Radar" Hill, 59, of Sandusky, passed away Monday evening, July 22, 2013 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.
James was born on September 4, 1953 in Sandusky, to the late Arvil and Pauline (Bahnsen) Hill.
As a child James attended Sunday school at St. Paul Lutheran Church, he also attended Barker elementary school where he had many fond memories of Mrs. Marshmellow. He proudly served in The United States Army in the early 70's. James earned a G.E.D. and then obtained a degree in Accounting from Ohio Business College. He was employed at Sawmill Creek Resort LTD. for over 30 years working his way up to head of the Accounting Department. He enjoyed sports, music, and had a special love for dogs. He loved spending time with his friends and family. James was known for his kindness to others, generosity, and humor.
James is survived by his daughter, Christina (Christopher) Gardner of Sandusky; grandchildren, Ashley Lawrence, Grant and Grace Gardner; sisters, Diane (Barry) Karns and Arlene (Rick) Wahl; brothers, Daniel (Betty) and William Hill; many loving family members; special long time friends, Richard Bettinger, and Sue Ann Smith.
In addition to his parents, aunts and uncles, James is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Sue Hill-Clark and special niece, Laura Kautz.
Friends may call on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Pastor Tim Nilsen of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Private family committal services will follow at a later date.
Friends and family are invited to bring a photograph of James to share at the service.
