Arthur William Dickman

Arthur William Dickman, 64, of Milan, passed away late Monday evening, July 22, 2013 at Admiral's Pointe after a lengthy illness.

Arthur was born on October 17, 1948 in Norwalk, to Arthur Wilbur and the late Mary Ida (Davis) Dickman.

Arthur graduated from Milan High School in 1967 and attended BGSU. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant of 1st Calvary Division receiving a Purple Heart during action in Cambodia. He had been employed with Dorr Chevrolet for 37 years and most recently had worked for Gildenmeister in Bellevue and Sharpnack Chevrolet in Willard.

Arthur was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Milan, life member of Disabled American Veteran, American Legion Milan Post 527, VFW Norwalk Post 2743, Milan Lions Club where he has been an active member since 1984, Milan Melon Festival parade organizer from 1985-2009, Erie County Fair Board from 1989-1994, Ultra Vettes Car Club from 1999 to present, Milan Village Council serving terms from 1985-1998 and 2000-2011 and was Milan Citizen of the Year in 2012. In his spare time, he enjoyed Corvettes, die cast collectibles, jigsaw puzzles, watching the Cleveland Indians, coin collecting and spending time with his grandchildren and his family.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Reer) Dickman, whom he married on November 23, 1974; daughter, Angie (Matt) Vogus of Milan; grandchildren Emily and Alli Vogus; father, Arthur Dickman of Norwalk; sister, Mary (Stephen) Mencer of Cambridge and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Arthur is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ida (Davis) Dickman and one brother, Mark Dickman, 2009.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1 S. Main St., Milan, Ohio 44846. Prayer services will be recited on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:10 am in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 145 Center St Milan, OH 44846 with Father Anthony Recker presiding. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Milan, OH.
