Mildred H. Palmer, 94, of Monroeville, died Sunday evening, July 28, 2013 in the Gaymont Nursing Home, Norwalk following a brief illness.
She was born April 13, 1919 in Monroeville and was a 1937 graduate of Monroeville High School. Mildred was employed as a secretary for the Monroeville Local Schools for 20 years. She enjoyed playing euchre, following her children and grandchildren in their sporting events, and the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville and the Women's Circle of the Church. Mildred was also a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Monroeville.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Marilyn) Palmer of Monroeville, Donald (Susan) Palmer of Austintown, OH., and Janet (John "Michael" ) Helmstetter of Monroeville, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Homer "Doggie" Palmer in 1995, her parents: Gustav & Frieda (Hehl) Schug, one brother: Melvin Schug, and two sisters: Alice Preston and Arlene Jakes.
Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 Broad Street, Monroeville. The Rev. Dr. Amy C. Little will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville.
