Eric J. "E.J." Latin, Sr., 68, Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, July 28, 2013 in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on August 20, 1944 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Eric graduated from High School in Shreveport and graduated with his bachelor's degree from Southern University. Eric was a 25 year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Sandusky. He coached little league baseball for many years, was active as both an administrator and scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America, loved being with his family, and made it his daily mission to help people wherever he could.
Eric is survived by his sons, Eric (Rachel) Latin, Jr., of Lakewood, Ohio, Christopher (Zola) Latin, of Sandusky, and Paul (Lisa) Glover, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Terrie Hines, of Shreveport, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Glover) Latin, in 2006; and parents, Adam and Hortense (Smith) Latin.
Friends may call on Friday, August 2, 2103 from 10 A.M. until funeral services at Noon at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Herman Robinson will officiate. The American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
