David J. Gerber, 62, of Monroeville, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 29, 2013 at his residence.
He was born January 23, 1951 in Norwalk, Ohio and was a 1969 graduate of Monroeville High School. Dave was part owner and manager of Monroeville Marine. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, Sons of the American Legion in Monroeville and Lake Erie Marine Trade Association. He enjoyed boating, playing cards, yard work, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Judy Stierhoff, two sons: Brian (Melissa) Gerber of Ada, Ohio, Trenton Gerber of Marion, Ohio, one daughter: Angela (Brett) Gies of Findlay, Ohio, his father: Myron "Joe" Gerber of Norwalk, four sisters: Christina (Michael) Raftery of Monroeville, Karen Draime of Norwalk, Donna Francisco of Sandusky, and Tracy (Jeff) Rhoad of Norwalk, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by one son: Steven M. Gerber in 2004, his mother: Dorothy M. Gerber in 2004, and one sister: Sandra Doering in 1993.
Friends may call Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 2, 2013 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. The Rev. William Pihfer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
