George A. Kurilic, Sr

George A. Kurilic, Sr., 83, Sandusky, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 in the Erie County Care Facility, Huron.

He was born on February 9, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio to the late George and Mary (Pernjak) Kurilic. George was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary's in Columbus. He was employed by the former Providence Hospital for 32 years, as the Forms Department manager. George was a member of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Paratroopers Division. He loved the theatre, working the Passion of Christ with the K of C for three years, playing the part of Christ in the play, and also working with Harlequins. George also loved woodworking, and he made crucifixes for family and friends. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he was a lector and minister of communion until his illness, a member of the Franciscan Order, the K of C, and the former I.A.B. Club.

George is survived by his wife, to whom he married at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in 1951, Roseann (Scally) Kurilic; children, Deborah, Carol, Andrew, and George, Jr.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike, Steven, Paul, William, Albert, and Rudy; and sisters, Helen and Bernie.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to Holy Angels Catholic Church.
