Robert Raymond "Bob" Hoffman, 69, residing in Sandusky, went home to be with his God Sunday evening, August 18, 2013 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief courageous battle with complications from chemotherapy.
Bob was born on June 13, 1944 in Sandusky, to the late Raymond and Katherine (Burns) Hoffman. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Margaretta High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves who proudly served his country from 1965 to 1971. He retired in 2006 from General Motors where he worked in skilled trades. Robert was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Sandusky Area Lutherans in Mission, and was a founding member of SF&M employee credit union in 1966 serving as treasurer from 1969 - 2013. He was also a blood donor for most of his adult life and helped save 458 lives by donating 19 gallons and 2 pints of blood.
Bob is survived by his wife, Paula (Miller) Hoffman, whom he married on February 5, 1977. He is also survived by his three daughters, Anne Osborne of Sandusky, Robin (Todd) Kasprenski of Columbia, NJ and Karin (Michael) Hudson of Cortland, OH; son, Stephen Maag and family of Milan, OH; brother, Don (Donna) Hoffman of Tucson, AZ; sister, Kay (Steven) Booze of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was the proud Papa to his grandsons and great-grandsons: Tony Osborne, Ryan Osborne, Zachary Hudson, Dylan Kasprenski, Kyle Kasprenski, Joshua Hudson, Elijah Osborne and Isaiah Osborne.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Hoffman.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also be received from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Rd., Sandusky with Rev. Bill Hlavin presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH. In celebration of Bob's life and his love of the Cleveland Indians, the family has requested guests to come to the church dressed in their favorite Tribe garb.
