Ada Moore, 84, Castalia, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at her daughter's home in Norwalk with her family after a lengthy illness.
Ada was born on July 30, 1929 in Harlan County, KY to the late Bert and Betsyann (Hamlin) Hensley.
Ada worked as a nurse's aid for 28 years dedicating her time at the Sandusky Nursing Home, Erie Care Center and through private home care. She volunteered at Stein Hospice and the Ohio Veterans Home. She was a member of Wayside Temple in Castalia. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, watching television, going out to eat with her lady friends, and visiting with family. She was a wonderful cook and liked nothing better than cooking for her family.
Ada is survived by her daughter, Alice Fowler of Norwalk; three sons, Charles (Marsha) Moore of Norwalk, Glenn (Mellony) Moore of Elyria, OH and Edward (Patty) Moore of Vermilion, OH; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Lee of Bellevue, OH and Evelyn Hensley of Harlan, KY; two brothers, Sam Hensley of Harlan, KY and Gill Hensley of IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Ada is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore; grandchildren, Jason P. Moore, Benjamin R. Moore, Joseph D. Fowler and Emily F. Fowler; son-in-law, Ed Fowler, Sr; sister, Cleo Daniels; and brothers, Hagan, Charles, George and Hamp Hensley.
Friends may call on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Wayside Temple, 3809 Maple Ave., Castalia with Pastor Rusty Yost presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
