Robert Gildenmeister, age 85, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at his home.

He was born Jan 27, 1925 to Elgie (Tea) and Floyd Gildenmeister at their home on South Ridge Road, Bellevue.

He leaves his wife, Katie who he married August 7, 1948. Others he leaves are a sister Thelma Hartley; nephews, Don Hartley and Dan Gildenmeister; and nieces Carole Nestra, Jeanie Kramer, Sheri Burkin and Peni Gray, and 9 great nieces and 16 great nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elgie and Floyd Gildenmeister; sister, Helen Gray; brother, Floyd Gildenmeister and a niece, Debbie Gildenmeister.

Bob graduated from York High School in 1944. He then started farming the Family Farm in Monroeville which he did till he retired. On August 7, 1948 he married the former Katie Lamb and both enjoyed the farm life together. His varied interest in farming led to his being awarded one year best soybean farmer in Huron County. Bob was named the Best Farmer in Huron County two years in a row. He worked extensively with the Wooster Ohio Experimental Station planting test plots for decrease and yields. He participated in many Farm workshops on planting, spraying and Tax seminars. For three years he belonged to the Farm Innovators Club of Columbus, Ohio. He was the first farmer in Huron County to plant narrow 20" row corn. This led him to build his own 15k soybean planter.

His many interests were computing making his own programs, bowling on the Friday Night Couples League and the Wednesday Night Men�s League. He and his wife Katie enjoyed their pool games. He was an avid card player playing with family and friends. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians ball games. He had a saying he lived by "Nothing is impossible it just takes a little longer."

Visitation will be Friday, December 31, 2010 from 3-8pm at the Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH 44811 where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Bellevue City Cemetery.
