Sue Arthur

Sue Arthur passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Born in Warsaw, Indiana on January 5, 1931, she was the daughter of Garland Faye and Snowden Harley Robison.

Mrs. Arthur received her BA degree from Manchester College (North Manchester, IN.) and Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, OH.), and taught kindergarten and remedial reading in the public school systems of Norwalk, Berlin Heights, and Milan, for over 20 years. She also taught for five years at a private Christian Academy in Sandusky, Ohio.

Mrs. Arthur faithfully followed her Lord Jesus Christ, and her life was characterized by her service to and concern for others. In addition to countless informal acts of kindness, she served many years as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and church librarian at Calvary Baptist Church (Norwalk, OH.). She also volunteered at the Firelands Museum in Norwalk, Ohio and read to preschoolers at Shady Lane Head Start program. Mrs. Arthur was well-read and was an engaging conversationalist.

She enjoyed traveling, sight-seeing (her commitment to reading historical markers is legendary), and camping across the United States, as well as sailing on Lake Erie with her husband, Gene.

Mrs. Arthur is survived by Gene Arthur, her husband of 64 years; and her five children, Samuel (Judy) Arthur of Wilmington, DE; Dinah (Gary) Schaszberger of Carlisle, PA; Joseph (Meta) Arthur of Sao Paulo, Brazil; John (Colleen) Arthur of Milan, OH; and Sarah (Dale) Shaw of Carmel, IN. In addition she is survived by her brother, Bud Robison of Leesburg, IN., and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Arthur was preceded in death by her parents, and by her sister, Barbara Vollmer of Leesburg, IN.

Friends may call beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH., where a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. The burial service will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
