Darlene A. McGurk, 69, residing in Marengo, OH, passed away early Sunday morning, September 1, 2013 at Bennington Glen Nursing Home after a 30+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Darlene was born on August 15, 1944 in Sandusky, OH to the late Lyman and Betty (Bluhm) Sommers.
Darlene was a graduate of Mary Manse College with a degree in nursing, and made a career of helping others while employed as a Registered Nurse in Ohio and Texas. Darlene was a past member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Darlene is survived by her son, Cliff (Paula) McGurk of Powell, OH; daughter, Heather (Clint) Harris of Chagrin Falls, OH; five grandchildren, Nate, Casey, Eric, Justin, and Bobby; sister, Phyllis (Elton) Moore of Castalia, OH; brother, Mike (Judy) Sommers of Castalia, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Darlene is preceded in death by her sister, Viola Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.
