Paul F. "Skeeter" Snyder, 79, of Bay View, died Saturday morning, Sept. 7, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Green Springs, OH, and attended Margaretta High School. He owned and operated Snyder's Towing for 27 years. He was Chief of Police in Bay View for 20 years and served as Mayor of Bay View from 1987 - 1991 and 1996 - 2011. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 83 of Sandusky.
Skeeter is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Cora Good; daughters Tamala Snyder Taylor, and Vicky Link; sons Tim "Tracey" Snyder, Tom "Debbie" Snyder, and Paul Nemitz; step-daughter Linda Laws and step-son Bobby Andrews; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister Betty Lou "Lynn" Cherry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Franklin Snyder; his mother and step-father Kathleen and Victor Weyer; and a half brother Robert Aldrich.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 pm Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park with the American Legion conducting military honors.
