Deacon Willie B. "Dr. BB" McCarty, 86, Sandusky, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at his residence, under the care of his sons, Willie L. "Bo", Jimmy and Wayne "Buck" McCarty.
He was born on November 1, 1926 in Waynesboro, MS, and lived in Sandusky since 1963.
Dr. BB was a factory worker for many years. He loved fishing, gardening, playing his harmonica, and spending time with the neighborhood children. He was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board, mass choir, and male chorus. Dr. BB was also a member of the Masonic order of St. John Lodge #192, Sandusky.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Kimel (Marion) Hudson, Sweetwater, AL, Carla McCarty, Cincinnati, OH, Audrey (Ricky) Samuel, Jacksonville, NC, Gwendolyn (Williams) Moore, Hamilton, GA, Giovahna Darden, Sandusky, and Patricia Sims, Jacksonville, FL; sons, Jimmy (Sharon) McCarty, Willie L. (Carla) McCarty, and Wayne (Birdia) McCarty, all of Sandusky, Larry McCarty, Mobile, AL, Neil (Myra) McCarty, Durham, NC, Donald, Norbert, Allen, Timothy, and Zachary Sims, all of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Nettie (Claude) Mercair, Chicago, IL, Ozella Grant, Sandusky, and Margerie Warshom, Waynesboro, MS; brothers, Issac (Nola) McCarty, Jr., Steward, FL, and Samuel (Classie) McCarty, Sandusky; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac and Nettie Mae (Gaines) McCarty; sons, Lawrence Edward McCarty and Samuel Allen McCarty; sisters, Hazel Sumlin, Lucille Matthews, Penni Mae McCarty, Emma Teddar, Pinkie McGrew, Erlene Morgan, and Albenie Richey; brothers, David McCarty and Wiley McCarty.
Friends may call on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
