Elizabeth Bennett Jones, 82, residing in Huron, died Monday, September 16, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born August 28, 1931 in Sandusky and was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School. She attended Lake Erie College for Women and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1953.
Mrs. Jones was a past member of First Faith Community Church in Sandusky (formerly First United Church of Christ) where she served as Deacon, Elder and Sunday school teacher. After her marriage to Harold Jones in 2009, she became a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Sandusky. She was a member and past president of College Women's Club, a member of Art Study Club and a founding member and past president of the board of Elder College at BGSU Firelands. She was a member of PEO, Chapter BE and was also a member of Plum Brook Country Club and the Sandusky Yacht Club.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Harold R. Jones; her children, Kathryn (Wiley) Prothero of Atlanta, GA, Charles (Sheryl) Bennett of Albuquerque, NM, Barbara (Tarek) Bennett Patros of Nuevo, CA, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph W. Bennett in 2002 and by her parents, William L. and Ernestine Weier Waldock.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne Street, Sandusky with the Reverend Jan Smith-Wood officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
