Robert E. Ferdinandsen, 90, Sandusky, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on January 7, 1920 in Sandusky, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Master Sergeant in Puerto Rico. Robert was employed by Peerless Stove Co. and Philco Corp. and retired from Gooding Amusement Co. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, loved golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane (John Gentry) Poths, Sandusky; son, Ronald Ferdinandsen, Riverview, FL; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Dubois, Norwalk, and Shirley Smith, Castalia; brothers, Jack Ferdinandsen, Port Clinton, and Fred Ferdinandsen, Sandusky, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Cross) Ferdinandsen in 1980; parents, Olaf and Marjorie Ferdinandsen; sisters, Betty Cardella, and Corrine Ruthsatz; and a brother, Harry Ferdinandsen.
A private family service will be held in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The American Legion Post 83, Sandusky will hold military services.
