Norman R. Gulbransen, 70, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 24, 1942 in Ishpeming, MI, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1961 to 1967.

Norman retired from General Motors after 18 years, and worked for Mahle in Tennessee as a Tool & Die maker.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Norman was an avid hunter, being a member of the North American Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Winifred (Christian) Gulbransen; mother, Eleonore (Ahtonen) Gulbransen, of Russellville, TN; children, Susan (Jerry) Hunt and Wayne Rhuda, both of Sandusky, Bernard (Deborah) Rhuda, of Holbrook, MA, Sharon Bailey, of Scottsdale, AZ, David (Denise) Rhuda, of Lake Whales, FL, Cheryl (Tom) Lyons, of Monroeville, OH, Warren (Sue) Rhuda, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Linda (Gary) Kalizewski, of Norwalk, OH; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis Gulbransen, of Russellville, TN and Ronald Gulbransen of Martinville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman G. Gulbransen; grandchild, Melissa; and a sister, Peggy Wightman.

Friends may call on Monday, September 30, 2013, from 2 P.M. until time of funeral services at 3 P.M. in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. The American Legion Post 83 will hold a military tribute following the funeral service.
