Joyce E. Schnellinger, 83, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born August 20,1930 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Fred T. and Beulah (Blanchard) Applegate.
Joyce was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, having holiday meals and get togethers for her family. Joyce also enjoyed going to her grandchildren's school and sporting events throughout the years, and watching the birds and deer that would come into their yard for the crab apples. Joyce and her husband, Ray, enjoyed road trips throughout the country, where she would always find a special antique to bring home for her "collections". She was a volunteer, delivering meals on wheels for 22 years, for the Huron County Services for the Aging.
Joyce's family was her life, and is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray L. Schnellinger, by her children, Lynn Schnellinger of Norwalk, Ohio, Gail (David) Laird of San Diego, California, Paula Schnellinger of Brevard, North Carolina, Mark (Lois) Schnellinger, of Willard, Ohio, and Pat (Beth) Schnellinger of Norwalk, Ohio, and by her grandchildren, Scott Ashley (Natalie Williams), Jennifer Ashley, Jarod Schnellinger, Cathy Schnellinger, and Karli Schnellinger. She is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Mary and Frank Trares of Wadsworth, Ohio and by her sister in law, Jean Schnellinger of Norwalk, Ohio.
Joyce was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kathy Ann, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Nathan Bockrath will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
