Harold B. "Skipp Walker, Jr.

Harold B. "Skipp" Walker, Jr., 65, of Monroeville, died Sunday morning, October 6, 2013, surrounded by loved ones, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 13, 1947 in Peterborough, New Hampshire, son of the late Harold & Dorothy (Black) Walker.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing. With his vast knowledge of fiberglass and honeycomb panels, he became a liaison between General Dynamics and the Air Force FB 111 - project and served two worldwide duties. He was in Vietnam during the fall of Vietnam and again during the Mayaguez incident. Skipp holds an associate degree in aerospace science and is also a graduate of the NCO Academy and is certified in high performance aircraft. He also owned and operated various businesses in Columbus, Port Clinton and Milan, Ohio. He was employed at IAC (Lear) for fifteen years.

Harold (Skipp) was active in the American Legion, Erie County Heritage Society, and was a former Chairman of UAW Local 913 Standing Veterans Committee. He enjoyed anything aviation, military, country living, reconnecting with family, friends, and spending time with his wife, Cindy, and especially his cat, Skeeter.

Harold is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cynthia Millis-Walker, three daughters: Barbara (Wayde) Alford of Stayton, Oregon, Tammy (Robert) Waid of Hertford, North Carolina, Chastity (Schuyler) Smith of North Fairfield, Ohio, one son: Harold (Tammee) Walker III of Spokane, Washington, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters, five brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

A celebration of Skipp's life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 12, 2013, for family, friends, fellow veterans and UAW brothers and sisters, at his beloved farm at 6502 Strecker Road, Monroeville, Ohio 44847. Military honors will be presented and Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate.
