Rosalyn M. Wise

Rosalyn M. Wise of Norwalk, aged 100 years, 10 months and 9 days, passed October 10, 2013 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, after a short illness.

Rosalyn Marie Hauler was born December 1, 1912, on the Ashton Farm in Peru Township three miles south of Monroeville, and lived in that neighborhood until moving to Norwalk in 1938.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Women of St. Paul, and was the last surviving charter member and a past president of the Eagles Aerie #711 Auxiliary in Norwalk. In 2008 she was present in Columbus to be inducted into the State Eagles Auxiliary Hall of Fame at their annual Auxiliary convention, in recognition of her 60 years of membership and service. She received her 65-year membership pin from the local Auxiliary this month.

Mrs. Wise was a Life Member of the Firelands Historical Society and a member of the Civil War Families program of the Huron County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. After her retirement she and her late husband were active for several years in local Senior Citizens groups including the Fun Band at the Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Henry Timman of Norwalk; two grandchildren, Tara Wise (Mark) Lee of Powder Springs, GA, and Jon William (Tiffany) Wise of Fort Worth, TX, along with seven great-grandchildren. A number of nieces, nephews and their descendants also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Wise in 1993; by their son, Jon Robert Wise in 1986; her daughter-in-law, Crystal Catron Wise in 1998; her parents, Mathius and Magdalena (Link) Hauler; two sisters, Agnes Pflieger and Frieda Schaffer; and four brothers, Albert, Louis, Walter and Clarence Hauler.

Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, has charge of the arrangements, which are in accordance with her wishes. Cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Nathan Bockrath, associate pastor of the church, officiating. Private inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery.
