Jonathan R. Marotta, age 62, of Norwalk, passed away Friday evening, October 18, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 18, 1951 in Fairview Park, OH to the late Frank F. Marotta and Genevieve Mooren.
He was a 1973 graduate of Ohio University and also received an Associate of Science Degree in Chemical Technology from Akron University. He lived in Ashland for over 25 years, and moved to Norwalk in 1996. He was a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church, a Stephen Minister and taught adult Sunday school. He was a member of the Huron Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice (Koptish) Marotta of Norwalk; children, Derek (Jennifer) Marotta of Wellsville, OH and Meleny (Jonus) Bonnell of Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren, JonMark and Emma Marotta, and Indyca and Axton Bonnell; a step-father, Jim Mooren; brother, Edward (Alice) Marotta of PA; sister, Linda Marotta of Lakewood; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-mother, Adeline Marotta.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 225 Williams Street, Huron, OH with the Rev. Ann Marie Montgomery officiating. A luncheon will follow the ceremony.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
