Gilbert P. Garnes Jr., 71, residing in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at his residence.
He was born on October 2, 1939 in Wadsworth, OH. He was employed by Imperial Clevite, Tenneco in Milan. Gilbert was a lifetime member of the Norwalk V.F.W.
He is survived by his children, Tauna (Rick) Bohlman, Audubon, Iowa, Margaret (John) Cole, South Solon, OH, and Paul (Imelda) Garnes, Corpus Christy, TX; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Jobe, Ben Jobe, Zach Bohlman, Chris Bohlman, BreeAnna Cole, Brandon Cole, and Melissa Garnes; and a brother, Ralph (Sharon) Garnes, Norwalk, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Margaret (Galovich) Garnes Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Rebecca.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, from 11 A.M. until time of memorial services at 11:30 A.M. in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 W. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
