Gerald C. Missig, 93, of Norwalk, Ohio, died early Saturday morning, October 19, 2013.
He was born March 7, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Francis H. and Hazel M. (Voodre) Missig and came to this area in 2005 from Warren, Michigan.
Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in W.W. II. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, Ohio, and retired in 1980 from General Motors in Warren, Michigan. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winter in Punta Gorda, Florida for many years. Gerald also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, especially Euchre, woodworking and metalworking.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hazel M. (McDougall) Missig of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his children, Gail (Ken) Pelletier of Milan, Ohio, Jerry (Maryjo) Missig of Frisco, Texas, and Gary (Joanne) Missig of Troy, Michigan. Gerald is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristen (Steven) Harris Julie (Mike) Serement, Melissa Pelletier, Jeremy (Kelly) Missig, and Evan (Morgan) Missig, and by 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis H. Missig and Raymond L. Missig.
Friends may call on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. David Connor will officiate.
