Dorothy Mable Poths, 86, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk.
She was born May 3, 1927 in Milan, Ohio to the late Albert & Mable (Matthews) Rice.
She was a 1945 graduate of Milan High School and was an employee of American Crayon in Sandusky and later provided cleaning services for the Milan Historical Museum and several Milan doctors. Dorothy was a member of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ, Monroeville, where she formerly sang in the choir. She was also a member of the One Alone Club and the Monroeville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting with friends, square dancing, traveling, trips to the Amish country, cooking and baking, laughing and always a good card game.
She is survived by one son: Lewis Poths of Monroeville, one daughter: Linda Yanushewski of Monroeville, two daughters-in-laws: Janice Poths of Willard and Jean (John) Pretto of Monroeville, 12 grandchildren: Cathy (Keith) Weaver, Karen Poths, Christie Poths, Brian Yanushewski, Mandy (Greg) Walkup, Kelly Poths, Bill (Debbie) Poths, Clint (Sandi) Poths, Dale (Becca) Poths, Rhiannon (Caleb) Buck, Jenna (CJ) Stempowski, and Jessie Poths, 14 great grandchildren, two sisters: Helen Cook and Mary Koch, both of Milan, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Wesley Poths in 1979, two sons: Arthur and Charles, one grandson: Jason, one granddaughter-in-law: Kelly Hines, five brothers: Robert "Jim" Rice, Patrick Rice, Kenneth Rice, Albert "Jr." Rice, Lawrence "Jack" Rice, and two sisters: Agnes Rice and Caroline Smith.
Friends may call Monday, October 28, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate. Burial will be in Milan Cemetery.
