Errol "Chum" Zimmerman, age 46, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 7, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan and was a lifelong resident of Norwalk.
He attended school in Erie County due to the inaccessibility of local schools until his graduation in 1989 from Norwalk High School. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing T-Ball. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and served as an usher. He was employed at Goodwill Industries in Sandusky and retired in 2011. He was a member of the Norwalk Elks and served as Chairman of the Cerebral Palsy Committee. He was an avid fan of the Norwalk Truckers and attended most games to the end. He enjoyed ESPN sports channel and was also a fan of Goldie Hawn. He collected her movies, pictures and personal cards written to him through the years.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and DeEtte Zimmerman of Norwalk; brother, Rick Zimmerman of Ashland; and sister, Kimberly Zimmerman, M.D. of Los Angeles, CA; several aunts, uncles and cousins; caregivers, Rocky, Trish, Jessica, Derek, Dane, Lauri, Melissa, Heather and many others.
He was preceded in death by his siblings in infancy, Christopher, Gary and Veronica.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 - 8 P.M. and Wednesday 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 87 W. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Margaret D'Anieri will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul Episcopal Church, Norwalk Trucker Athletic Boosters, Stein Hospice or Christie Lane Recreation Department.
