Keith McCormick, 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, returned home to his heavenly Father Saturday evening, October 26, 2013 at Providence Care Centers.
Keith was born on August 9, 1918 to the late Maurice and Ena (Carnegie) McCormick. he was raised on Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada until he moved to Sandusky in 1952.
He retired from Hallmark Furniture in 1982 and following his retirement was employed by Real Estate Enterprises. He served in the Canadian Navy during WWII supporting Allied Forces on a mine sweeper in the English Channel on D-Day.
Keith was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Huron for 58 years, Masonic Lodge of Pelee Island, a past member of the American Legion in Sandusky and Canadian Legion on Pelee Island. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Keith is survived by his three daughters, Rebecca (Jerry) Leibacher of Castalia, Caryl McCormick of Columbus and Julie (Matt) Wenzinger of Sandusky; nine grandchildren, Christopher (Amy) Leibacher, Victoria Hundley, Kelly (Mike) Crabtree, Jenna Kemp, Kaity and Ian Lyle, and Holly, Rachael and Aubrey Wenzinger; either great-grandchildren, Nick, Jake and Kylie Leibacher, Mikayla and Cole Hundley, Jilienne Nason, and Bryce and Matt Crabtree; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen (David) McCormick; four sisters, Catherine and Jean McCormick, Margaret Oare and Pauline Mallott; and four brothers, George, Douglas, Dennis and Paul Maxwell McCormick.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main St., Huron with Pastor Mandy Oleson presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
