LaTresha Danyel (Gowdy) Sowers El, 32, residing in Baltimore, Maryland, formerly of Sandusky, ascended into the beautiful blue skies to be with her heavenly father, on Sunday, October 20, 2013, unexpectedly.
She was born on May 19, 1981 in Sandusky to Cynthia Gowdy and Stephen Irby.
LaTresha graduated from Sandusky High School in 1999, and was currently attending Baltimore School of Massage to become a massage therapist. She was an avid hairstylist who loved to do hair. LaTresha was a family oriented person who loved to spend time with her son and mother. She was a caring, loving, and giving person, who treated everyone as family. She was a member of the Praise and Worship team at New Season Ministry in Laurel, Maryland.
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Maurice Sowers El; a handsome son, Omari Sowers El, both of Baltimore, MD; mother, Cynthia Gowdy, Baltimore, MD; father, Stephen Irby, Sandusky; brothers, Brison Holiday and Anthony Gowdy, both of Sandusky, and Stephan Moore, Louisville, KY; sisters, Sheemeka Moore, Geovanna Darden, Shannell Cooley, Toka Clark, MeShanda McGrew, and Stacy Humphries, all of Sandusky; grandparents, Tommie Ross, Samuel and Mattie Irby, all of Sandusky; godson, Avant Keys, Sandusky; special aunts, Barbara Richardson and Dorothy Clark; special brother, Donald Morris; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Gowdy; and great-grandmother, Adella Nicholson.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 7-9 P.M. in New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 P.M. (Noon) in the church. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson, Jr. will officiate, and Rev. Eric Jordan will provide the eulogy. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
