Margaret Barber, 96, residing in Brandon, Florida passed away Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at Brandon Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Margaret was born on May 31, 1917 in Youngstown, OH to the late John and Elizabeth (Phillips) Carmichael.

Margaret graduated from Columbus North High in Columbus, Ohio. She received her Bachelor's Degree in education from The Ohio State University, and was an elementary school teacher in Milan, Ohio for 10 years. After completing her Master's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University she became the Milan Elementary School principal where she remained for 15 years until she retired in 1977. Margaret was a member of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church. She dedicated her life to education, and after moving to Florida following retirement she continued to tutor children teaching English as a second language.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Barker of Brandon, FL and Priscilla (Jack) Mason of Walkarusa, IN; five grandchildren, Curtis (Janet) Montgomery, Lynn (Todd) Haberland, and Greg, Matt (Karen) and Katie Barker; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Brooks) Parsons of Cincinnati, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Barber in November of 1993; two grandchildren, Lori Montgomery and Roy Barker; and one brother, Jack Carmichael.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, 10 E. Church St. Milan, Ohio 44846. A committal service and burial will follow in Milan Cemetery with Pastor Dale Thomas presiding.
