Eugene "Skip" RiedyEugene "Skip" Riedy, 80, of Sandusky died early Saturday morning, January 22, 2011 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness. He was born November 17, 1930 in Sandusky and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Skip owned and operated the Skip Riedy & Son Construction Company in Sandusky. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he was active in several church ministries, Holy Name Society, played the drums in several local bands, and enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Jane Pole, children: James (Mary Conley) Riedy of Sandusky, Diane (Bill) Zimmerman of West Lebanon, Indiana, and Gene (Brenda) Riedy of Sandusky, five grandchildren: Brian, Stephanie, Amy, Andrea and Tim, six great grandchildren: Bobbi Paige, Heather, Jacob, Holland, Halli, and Nevaeh, one sister: Jane Kilianek of Sandusky, one brother: Larry (Sherry) Riedy of Sandusky, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alphonse & Olive (Schlett) Riedy and two brothers: Alphonse �Mick� Riedy, Jr. and Dale Riedy. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayer will be recited at 9:30 AM Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Angles Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson Street, Sandusky. The Rev. Christopher Kardzis will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church or to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
