Marie (Pietroiacovo) Malone, 92, residing in Huron, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after an illness.
Marie was born on June 16, 1921 in Italy to the late Michael and Lucia Pietroiacovo.
Marie was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky and the Holy Redeemer Church in Cleveland, where she was also a member of the Whitcomb Bells Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, playing bocce ball and spending time with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Lucille M. (Carl) Hanson of Sandusky; two sons, Michael (Mary) Malone of Mentor and Carl (Nena) Malone of Bainbridge; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Malone in 1978, whom she married on February 14, 1941; a daughter, Antoinette M. Malone in 2000; brother, Nicholas Pietroiacovo and her sister, Irma Pietroiacovo.
Friends may call on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will begin at 1:00 PM followed by a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with Father Michael Roemmele presiding. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
