Mother Nola Mae Ott Miller, 76, Port Clinton, departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on March 29, 1934, to Simpson Mosley and Insernola (Boyd) Brooks Mosley, in Starkville, MS. Nola "Madea" loved the Lord. She served faithfully over the years in Ohio and Chicago at various Churches of God in Christ as a pastor, missionary, and Sunday school teacher. Madea was full of compassion and concern for others. She fed the hungry, visited and prayed with the sick, and encouraged the broken hearted. She was faithful and supportive of her entire family, encouraging each to do some one thing well, and above all remain true to God, to the Church, and to family.
She leaves to rejoice in her memory, her daughters, Janice (Walter) Jones, Jewel (Henry) Conway Williams, Nola (Lawrence) Smith, Charmise (Calbert) Lewis; sons, Samuel (Ora) Ott, Jr., Harold (Juliet) Ott, Alphonso Ott, Alonzo Ott, and Derrick (Alma) Ott; twenty-five grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ambrose Brooks; sisters, Rosiella (Charles) Latimer and Emma Gaines; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Stovall-Allgood; grandson, Demetrius Haywood; sisters, Willye Bell Shine, Artie Dickerson, and Bessie L. Mosley; brothers, Elmore Brooks, Jodie Brooks, Philip Mosley, and Willie Mosley.
Friends may call on Friday, January 21, 2011, from 7-9 P.M. in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Condolences may be shared at www.toftfh.com.
